2024 Nissan Altima vs. Kia K5 and Hyundai Sonata

See Why the New Nissan Altima
Outshines Its Competition in Jackson, MS

The New Nissan Altima vs. the Kia K5 and Hyundai Sonata

You shouldn't have to sacrifice fuel economy to drive a spacious, feature-rich sedan. You won't with the new Nissan Altima. This midsize car earns fantastic gas mileage, while also offering ample space for Jackson, MS drivers to stretch out and relax. Other midsize sedans like the Kia K5 and Hyundai Sonata also have good qualities, but they don't have quite as much to offer as the Altima. Gray-Daniels Nissan North developed the following comparisons to show you why.

Standard Engine Power and Acceleration

You won't have any trouble keeping up with traffic in Ridgeland when driving the new Nissan Altima. It comes standard with a 188-horsepower four-cylinder engine, but a turbocharged 236-horsepower four-cylinder motor is available. When properly equipped, the Altima can sprint from 0 to 60 in around seven and a half seconds. The new Kia K5's standard engine only produces 180 horsepower. The Hyundai Sonata's base engine makes 191 horsepower, but it takes about eight seconds to get to 60 mph from a standstill.

Cargo Room

With today's wildly variable gas prices, it's economically critical to drive a fuel-efficient car. You'll make fewer trips to the fuel pump with the new Nissan Altima. Madison, MS drivers will appreciate that the Altima earns 27 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway when properly equipped. The new Kia K5 returns 27 mpg in the city and just 37 mpg on the highway in its most efficient configuration. The new Hyundai Sonata earns 28 mpg in the city, but only 38 mpg on the highway with its most efficient setup.

Passenger Space/Seat Comfort

Looking at performance specs for these two sedans, they appear to have a lot in common. Both start with a standard four-cylinder engine that has available all-wheel drive, and both have optional upgrades that are available for Clinton, MS drivers who crave more power. But at their topmost, high-performing options, the Altima tops the Camry in oomph, getting you up to highway speeds quickly, smoothly, and safely.

Safety

Your safety is crucial in any car, and Nissan makes it a priority by including the Safety Shield 360 suite of advanced active safety amenities in each Altima model. Clinton, MS drivers will appreciate that this package has eight features, including lane-departure warning and a rear-seat reminder. The new Kia K5 has just as many driver aids as the Altima, but it has lane departure mitigation rather than a lane departure warning system. The new Hyundai Sonata only has six standard driver assistance features, and a rear seat reminder is not available.

Infotainment Options

A high-quality infotainment system can make driving through slow traffic in Jackson more interesting. The new Nissan Altima comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, but a 12.3-inch display with wireless Apple Carplay is available. The new Kia K5's largest infotainment touchscreen is just 10.25 inches long. The Hyundai Sonata's largest infotainment touchscreen is also 10.25 inches, although a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is optional.
